Please provide us strength on this Thanksgiving Day Bless us with memories of those faraway... Please grant patience to family and friends as we grieve and help us reach out to others who are bereaved.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are having medical problems. Believe me I know all too well how easy it would be to give up because I want to give up everyday of the week but I also know in my heart that my son Kevin would never want that for me. I am also pretty confident that JR would not want that for you either. It's the hardest thing to do to fight, but you have to fight to get better for you and JR. Thinking of you and wishing you all the best. I will keep you and JR in my constant thoughts.

Hello Alice, I am writing this because my mum cannot as she is sick I got the above icon from mums site I hope that is ok?. I will pray for you, but better still my mum will pray for you and I will call her prayer group and ask them to pray for you as she insisted I do. I know how hard life can be, I watched my mother since Ian died and she has lost all of the life that once shone from her.I know she prays, and she prays for many folk in this place which I never understand,But Alice Wardel you are lucky, I see so many folk care for you and sending prayers for you. My mum has had heart surgery twice and no one bothers to do this for her. I only found out she was sick again because I came after her friend called to take care of the dogs.My mum will not let others know she is so ill.and she will not pray for herself as she thinks herself unworthy because of how Ian died, that is not true though but I cannot tell her she will not listen even as she lies in a hospital bed close to where Ian once was. Lift up your heart Alice, and know that you have much to fight for to live for. and you can live with kidney failure I know because I have an aunty with this also, even though it is hard.It is much harder I know because you mourn your husband.But he would want you to live and to be happy. Please try Alice, so many people care for you. Rachael, not a writer but a chef.
I read this in one of mums mails..... Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end. There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days. All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else. Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed. Your grudges, resentments, frustrations and jealousies will finally disappear.
So too, your hopes, ambitions, plans and to-do lists will expire. The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away. It won't matter where you came from or what side of the tracks you lived on at the end. It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant. Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.
So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured? What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built; not what you got, but what you gave. What will matter is not your success, but your significance.
What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught. What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example. What will matter is not your competence, but your character. What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone. What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in those who loved you. What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.
Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident. It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice. Choose to live a life that matters. It really matters!
